Please join us in a newly-formed Christian Sufi community that brings together the mystical traditions of two great paths of Love. We come together in response to our yearning for wholeness and to the world’s great need for a new vision of joy to replace the collapsing vision of negative power. This path invites us to awakeness, inner and outer love, integrity and maturity. All whose hearts are called to join us are welcome.
Our Sufi practices include a silent meditation of the heart as taught by Irina Tweedie and Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee in the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidiyya Sufi lineage (Golden Sufis), as well as work with dreams. Our Christian tradition is from the non-hierarchical, non-creedal Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where our practices return to the earliest roots of inclusive Christianity, including weekly communion to which all are welcome.
Giving their hearts to this adventure are Wahhab Baldwin and Katherine Diamond, whose relationship has led them to embrace each other’s mystical paths. Rev. Wahhab (M.A., M.Div.), has been a practicing Sufi mystic for 35 years and is a recently ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Katherine’s Christian mystical experiences began in childhood, and are deeply supported by Sufi practices. She is a sacred activist, with passion for equality and racial justice. Both have studied alchemy and the work of Carl Jung, and are pursuing balance between inner and outer, feminine and masculine, freedom and union. We gather at a private home in South Seattle on Sundays from 4:30-6:30PM, including tea and a snack. Children are welcome and will be with an adult who is experienced in working and playing with children as they explore their spirituality. Please let us know you are coming so we can plan effectively. Call 206.722.1947 for location and more information, or email us at info@friendsoftheOne.org.
