Please join us in a Christian Sufi community that brings together the mystical traditions of two great paths of Love. We come together in response to our yearning for wholeness and to the world’s great need for a new vision of joy to replace the collapsing vision of negative power. This path invites us to awakeness, inner and outer love, integrity and maturity. All whose hearts are called to join us are welcome.
Our Sufi practices include a silent meditation of the heart as taught by Irina Tweedie and Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee in the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidiyya Sufi lineage (Golden Sufis), as well as work with dreams. Our Christian tradition is from the non-hierarchical, non-creedal Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where our practices return to the earliest roots of inclusive Christianity, including weekly communion to which all are welcome.
Giving their hearts to this adventure are Wahhab Baldwin and Katherine Diamond, whose relationship has led them to embrace each other’s mystical paths. Rev. Wahhab (M.A., M.Div.), has been a practicing Sufi mystic for 35 years and is now an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Katherine’s Christian mystical experiences began with love-filled, numinous meetings with Jesus in her childhood, and she finds that experience of Love supported by Sufi practices. She is a sacred activist, with passion for equality and justice. Both have studied alchemy and the work of Carl Jung, and are pursuing balance between inner and outer, feminine and masculine, freedom and union.
JOIN US ON APRIL 25, 2010 [Click to skip to “Gathering Particulars,” or to MUST READ Info for Parents.]: We’re delighted to announce that we’re holding gatherings regularly again, and you are warmly invited. We’re beginning with monthly gatherings, mostly on the last Sunday of the month from 3–5 PM (with some adjustments for holiday weekends), and then heading towards twice a month. The Friends of the One Core Team has morphed from a “planning team” to a Core Group committed to undefended surrender to Love and to deep listening, as well as committed to meeting twice a month for 3 hours. (This group will also expand, as well. Not for the faint-hearted!)
Note: The May 23rd Gathering is cancelled due to an unforeseen combination of circumstances. Many apologies.
Next Gathering:A Date in June to be Announced.
Gathering Particulars: Our next gathering is April 25, 2010, from 3pm to 5pm. We actually start at 3:00pm and move quickly to meditation, so please arrive a little early. (That said, if you know you'll be late, just let us know to expect you, come in quietly and join the meditation when you arrive.) We choose to not post our home address on the internet, so please call us for address and directions any time before 2:30pm of the day of the gathering. Note our NEW phone number: 206.261.5830. Even if you’ve been here before, please let us know by phone or email that you’re coming so we can plan for seating and parking.
MUST READ Note to Parents: We will happily provide a space for children from ages 5-12 to be with a competent, loving, fun adult during the gathering, IF WE KNOW THAT CHILDREN ARE COMING, AND THEIR AGES, BY THE THURSDAY BEFORE THE GATHERING, and if you can arrive before 3:00pm. We will try to make special arrangements for younger children and babies with earlier notice. Whatever your childcare needs are, please call us at 206.261.5830.
Special Note to Sufis: The spiritual practices of the Golden Sufi lineage do not include dancing or chanting, as many often assume. Ours is a silent path. For more information about this line, please visit the Golden Sufi website.
Please send us an email or call us at 206.261.5830 if you would like to be notified of upcoming gatherings, or would like more information. We look forward to connecting with you.
